What are the most common Cesarean-section complications?

| Jul 20, 2016 | Uncategorized

The birth of a child is one of the most joyous experiences of your life. Unfortunately, this can turn into a bad situation if you don’t have a medical team making all the right decisions.

It goes without saying that a vaginal delivery is preferred. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that there is less risk of injury to both the mother and baby. However, there are times when a Cesarean-section is necessary.

But here is what you need to know: There are many potential complications associated with a C-section. This is why it’s important to avoid the procedure unless it is necessary.

Here are some of the most common C-section complications for the mom:

— Infection. This can occur in many parts of the body, including the incision itself as well as a variety of pelvic organs.

— Increased blood loss. Generally speaking, more blood is lost during a C-section than a vaginal delivery.

— Organ injury. It is possible for organs to be injured during a C-section, such as the bladder or bowel.

— Maternal mortality. The maternal mortality rate is higher for a C-section than a vaginal delivery.

As you can see, there are many C-section complications for a woman to be concerned with. This doesn’t even take into consideration the risks to the baby.

If you suffer any type of injury related to a C-section, make sure you receive top notch medical treatment from that point on. From there, you can also determine if a medical professional acted in a negligent manner, thus causing your injury. If so, you may be able to pursue compensation through a civil lawsuit. An attorney can advise you of your legal options.
